The Midcoast LGA: from Taree, Harrington, Crowdy Head in the north; Wingham, Gloucester and Barrington Tops in the west; Old Bar, the twin towns of Forster/Tuncurry, and the beaches of Pacific Palms in the east; and Bulahdelah, Stroud, Booral, Nerong, the Myall Lakes, Tea Gardens, Karuah, and Hawks Nest in the south.

The habitat is diverse: from littoral, to bush, to forest and cleared lands; as is management: from State Forest, National Park, and Council; to farming, rural, and urban.

Just one of the smallest areas (Booti Booti National Park – a 120-metre-short hill and an 8km-short-and-narrow strip of land) is up to an official count of 216 species of birds.

The list is still growing – thanks to National Parks, Council, various bird-nerd individuals, and clubs – and we keep adding better and better images to our website (the little *asters* are our own sightings in the area).

It’s all about the birds! Happy spotting 🐦💞
